Chinese Export Hardwood Child's Slant Front Desk, c. 1740-50

Chinese Export hardwood child's slant front desk made for the Dutch trade, the raised paneled top with exposed dovetails over the similarly paneled slant front (an early replacement) opening to reveal an elaborate stepped interior fitted with numerous serpentine drawers and a document well, over two long drawers with replaced Chippendale hardware, on a detached base raised on cabriole legs with paw feet and leaf carved knees, joined by an elaborate apron. China, c. 1740 - 50.
