Early Victorian Mahogany Trolley, c. 1840

Victorian mahogany trolley, the upper shelf raised on four turned posts with mushroom finials, the lower portion with two paneled doors opening to a continuous interior and raised on turned feet. England c. 1840

Dimensions: 41" long x 17" deep x 36.5" high

Condition: Original casters lost. This trolley is attributable to the London firm of William Smee and Sons. A similar model with two shelves and two doors is illustrated in "Pictorial Dictionary of British 19th Century Furniture Design", Antique Collectors' Club, 1977, page 416. Note also the nearly identical profile of the turned supports.
